Teaching Kids About Jesus
by Sarah Wiesner

This year I went to a camp put on by Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) called Christian Youth in Action.  This camp trains teens to lead 5-day clubs and teach at Vacation Bible Schools in the summer time.  I taught two Vacation Bible Schools and four 5-Day Clubs this summer.  It was exciting to see so many kids come to the clubs and I had the privilege of leading some of the kids to Jesus!

At VBS I led singing and helped with skits.  The kids loved singing and doing the hand motions.  I got to know the kids by teaching the Bible story and helping with crafts and games.

We set up the 5-Day Clubs in our front yard.  One day a woman brought her whole day care and let us teach the kids.  On that day 4 of the kids accepted Christ!  The lady said that the kids needed permission from their parents to pray with me.  They came back with permission and prayed to become Christians!  I felt that all the work we did to prepare for this summer was worth it.  I plan to teach a Good News Club this fall at the public school in town.

I recommend that other teens go through CEF training.  It’s a great experience to lead someone to Christ and a lot of kids hear about God through this ministry.  I also got to know my friends better by working alongside of them.
